DUTA Press Release: 24 April 2019

DUTA takes strong exception to threatening letter from Delhi Government to stop funds                                                                                                                                                                                         The DUTA takes strong exception to the threatening letter sent by the Delhi Government regarding stopping of funds to the 28 colleges partially or fully funded by it. The reason cited in the letter is that the Delhi University has failed to constitute the Governing Bodies in these colleges. The DUTA finds it unacceptable that the employees of these colleges be held to ransom because of the impasse created by the University and / or the Government. The stopping of funds is a short sighted step as it will only disrupt the academic and administrative functioning of these colleges when students are preparing for their semester exams. The DUTA demands the immediate withdrawal of the letter and also demands that th

Shri Prakash Javadekar, Hon'ble Minister for HRD, Shastri Bhavan, New Delhi Sub: Withdrawal of SLP Dear Sir, DUTA expresses its appreciation for the positive intervention made by MHRD vide its letter dated 29.03.2019 to approve the pension of all teachers who shifted to GPF from CPF between 1989 and 1998. We are hopeful that this will mitigate the suffering of thousands of teachers who have been denied pension since August 2014 despite surrendering their CPF account at least two decades ago while shifting to GPF. However, DUTA is dismayed to note that there are still a few hundred teaching and non-teaching employees who have been denied pension since they did not shift to GPF in the period between 1989 to 1998. These employees have be

Appeal for immediate suspension of arbitrary and hasty process of UG   curricular revision as per LOCF                               The HODs University of Delhi Sub: Appeal for immediate suspension of arbitrary and hasty process of UG   curricular revision as per LOCF Dear Sir/Madam, The instructions and schedule for curricular revision in the UG courses, circulated by the University of Delhi on 26.03.2019, seeks to put an abrupt end to our best academic practices and insists on an arbitrary exercise that needs to be hastily completed within a very limited time-span of three months. From previous experience, we have learned that such hasty exercises can have academically disastrous results that undermine the collective morale of students and teachers. It is evident that the Learning Outcomes-based Curricular Framework (LOCF) has not been properly understood or discussed, with regard to its long-term ramifications and feasibility, in any statutory body. Hence, it will

Appeal to Withdraw Instructions and Schedule pertaining to UG   Curriculum Revision, as issued to Deans and Heads of Departments                    April 1, 2019 Prof. Yogesh K. Tyagi Vice-Chancellor University of Delhi Delhi – 11000 Sub: Appeal to Withdraw Instructions and Schedule pertaining to UG   Curriculum Revision, as issued to Deans and Heads of Departments Dear Prof. Tyagi, The University of Delhi has reportedly issued instructions, along with a 3-month schedule, to all Deans and Heads of Departments, to accomplish Curriculum Revision as per the Learning Outcomes Curricular Framework (LOCF) across all subjects taught at the UG level. The DUTA is surprised that such a large-scale academic exercise is being carried out without any consultation with the collective body of teachers, and sans any discussion in the Academic Council. Even in good faith, it will be presumptuous of the University officials to imagine that such a Revision, done without adequate app
