DUTA Press Release: 24 April 2019

DUTA takes strong exception to threatening letter from Delhi Government to stop funds

The DUTA takes strong exception to the threatening letter sent by the Delhi Government regarding stopping of funds to the 28 colleges partially or fully funded by it. The reason cited in the letter is that the Delhi University has failed to constitute the Governing Bodies in these colleges. The DUTA finds it unacceptable that the employees of these colleges be held to ransom because of the impasse created by the University and / or the Government. The stopping of funds is a short sighted step as it will only disrupt the academic and administrative functioning of these colleges when students are preparing for their semester exams.

The DUTA demands the immediate withdrawal of the letter and also demands that the University takes immediate steps to constitute the Governing Bodies of these colleges as per the Act, Statutes and Ordinances of the University.
