DUTA Letter to the Principal reg. renewal of services of teachers working on ad-hoc basis: 04.04.2021

Dear Madam/Sir,

We are writing in regard to the renewal of services of ad-hoc teachers which may be due in your institution.

As you are aware, the 5th December Record of Discussion, Clause 2 stipulates: "it is expected that all ad-hoc teachers worked or working in the current academic year shall be continued till recruitment of permanent faculty".

Accordingly, the University Letter to Principals/ Directors dated 20.12.2019, stipulated “During the interim period, if vacancies which have to be filled for maintaining smooth academic functioning of the colleges/institutions, adhoc/temporary/contact/guest faculty can be appointed till permanent faculty is recruited.”

In the light of the 5th December Record of Discussion and the University letter dated 20.12.2020, we appeal to you to issue extension letters to all ad-hoc teachers in your college. We appeal that care must be taken that the staggered workload owing to the pandemic does not cause any disadvantage to the teachers and their services and vacation salary is protected.

This will also ensure smooth functioning of the college in terms of teaching-learning processes, submission of internal assessment, invigilation duties, allotment of duties for the next semester etc.

We further appeal that ad-hoc teachers should not face any discrimination in terms of various measures adopted by your College in light of the University circular dated 3.4.2021 regarding preventive measures to be adopted by institutions to fight COVID-19.
