Dear Colleagues,

We salute teachers for making the ongoing movement successful by participating in protest programmes in large numbers. The Shiksha-Shikshak Bachao Rally of 16 October saw participation of over 1000 teachers and students.

We appeal to Staff Associations to organise  College Protest Programmes on 22-23-24 October. The three-day programme aims at mobilising students and teachers  on issues concerning us today. As the Government decides to table NEP 2019 in the Winter Session of Parliament, it is important that we build a strong democratic joint movement against its negative recommendations quickly. Also, teachers have been denied appointments, promotions and pension. It is important to make students aware of the issues which teachers are facing as our working conditions impact the quality of education as well as the future of the teaching profession.

Format of the 3-Day College Protest Programme:
It is an important outreach Programme and Staff Associations are requested to chalk out the form and schedule of the action programme. Staff Associations may also mobilise students' unions to make the programme successful. Classes will remain suspended for two hours (schedule to be decided by Staff Association) on all the three days.

The protest programmes may include class to class campaign amongst students, public meetings, poster making and formation of Human Chains outside colleges.

Staff Associations may email their schedule to the DUTA at duta.du@gmail.com, especially in case they require DUTA teams/ activists. Further, we request Staff Associations to email photos of these activities so that they can be hosted on the DUTA website and sent along with the DUTA Press Release to the media.

Handbills for students will be available in the DUTA Office on Monday, 21 October 2019. Staff Associations are requested to collect them.

Please find enclosed a revised poster of the event. Please circulate it widely amongst students and teachers.

Regards
