DUTA PRESS RELEASE, 30.01.2018

DUTA PRESS RELEASE, 30.01.2018

A preliminary study of the notification of the 7th Central Pay Commission for teachers and equivalent cadres in universities and colleges shows that it is a major let-down for the teaching community. There is nothing to rejoice about the announcement of the pay revision as it gives nothing spectacular or advantageous to the teaching community. The DUTA expresses complete shock that this scheme is subject to the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Finance (Department of Expenditure) vide OM No. 1/1/2016 - E. III (A) dated 13.01.2017. The said Office Memorandum stipulates that the Central Universities are supposed to get only 70% of the enhanced financial burden on account of the Pay Revision, the rest to be met by the Universities through self-generation of resources. Further, no decision has been taken on allowances and pension. These anti-teacher adverse features have left the teaching community dismayed and betrayed. The DUTA Executive will meet on 2.2.2018 to decide on the future course of action.
