DUTA PRESS RELEASE, 26.5.2017

TEACHERS PROTEST NON INCLUSION OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION POSTS IN TEACHING ROSTER AND ADS

Hundreds of teachers sat on a day long dharna for the second day outside the VC 's Office to protest against the non inclusion of the posts of teachers of Physical Education in the teaching Roster and advertisements being brought out by some colleges.

The protest was organised by the DUTA under a  banner that read " VC Vaada Nibhao" (VC Fulfil Your Promise) referring to the assurances given by the Vice Chancellor Prof Yogesh Tyagi to the DUTA Office Bearers in a five hour long meeting on the 10th.

The DUTA has repeatedly pointed out that in DU Colleges,  Physical Education Teachers have been working as Lecturers/Assistant and Associate Professors  for the last thirty years.  Any attempt to remove their posts from the teaching Roster can only be interpreted as an attempt to sabotage the process of appointments that have been ordered by the Hon'ble High Court.

On 24.5.2017 DUTA had another meeting with University Officials such as the Pro Vice Chancellor and Dean and complained about the communications from certain officials that had created more confusion and threatened to derail the whole process.  Despite some positive steps being taken,  the confusion created earlier by contradictory directions has still not been cleared. While some colleges have now included Physical Education posts in the roster as well as advertisement, this has yet to be done in several colleges.

The DUTA demands that the University Officials fulfil the assurances given to the DUTA and take urgent steps to direct all colleges to include Physical Education posts in the roster and advertisement, so that the process of making permanent appointments can be expedited.
