The DUTA action-programme consisting of a series of Dharnas at different clusters across the the city concluded today. Dharnas were held in two clusters today; at Shyam Lal College and at Rajouri Garden Metro Station.

Teachers and students from the college as well as from Vivekananda College, Maharaja Agrasen College, Ambedkar College, College of Applied Sciences, College of Business Studies, gathered at Shyam Lal College despite the inclement weather. Students from Shyam Lal College narrated their experiences of the FYUP voicing their resentment against poor quality courses and lack of infrastructure. Students also expressed their anger at the fact that the Foundation Courses are a complete waste of time and left too little time for Discipline Papers and vociferously demanded its immediate roll-back, and that the current batch should have no more foundation courses and be able to complete their honours degree in three years, so that they are not at a disadvantage as compared to students of other Universities. Teachers and students also distributed leaflets to build public opinion against the FYUP. Students voiced their resolve to talk to students of other colleges and to parents in order to build a strong resistance to continuance of FYUP.

Teachers and students from Rajdhani College, Shivaji College, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College and IGIPESS gathered at the Rajouri Garden Metro Station with placards and banners and distributed leaflets to passersby highlighting the problems of FYUP and the faulty recruitment policy of the University. Teacher activists present at the dharna also decried the dictatorial attitude of the VC in not meeting DUTA or resolving the issues facing the university community.

The DUTA has already launched its campaign to collect feedback from students on the FYUP. Over the next week, the DUTA through the Staff Associations of different colleges will collect and collate the feedback from students on various aspects of the FYUP.
