Physical Protest at the VC Office; Acting VC gives assurance that services of the 12 teachers will be restored The DUTA held a Physical Protest at the VC's Office today, 18 June 2021 to protest against the non-renewal of services of 12 adhoc teachers in Vivekananda College and mis-governance by Dr. Hina Nandrajog, the Acting Principal, and her continuation in the office beyond 5 years. However, the protest was soon suspended as Professor P.C. Joshi, Acting Vice Chancellor came out to meet the DUTA and informed that the University has told Dr. Hina Nandrajog in no uncertain terms that services of the 12 teachers have to be renewed immediately. Teachers of VNC share their stories of harassment and victimisation, DUTA  reiterates its demand that the Acting Principal should be removed immediately  As part of the ongoing movement to demand justice for the 12 adhoc teachers  of Vivekananda College whose services were not renewed,  the DUTA held a two-day Online Protest Dharna starting from 7.6.2021.  On the second day of the DUTA online Protest Dharna,  teachers of VNC shared their experiences of harassment and witch hunting. Amongst other senior faculty,  Teachers-in-Charge of the Department of History and English joined the DUTA Online Protest Dharna. DUTA rejects UGC's proposal on Blended Learning – it will dilute degrees and severely destroy universities as spaces for engaged teaching-learning The DUTA submitted its feedback on the Concept Note on Blended Mode of Teaching and Learning (BL) released on 20.5.2021 ( attached ) . The Concept Note proposes that up to 40% of every course/paper be taught and assessed online. This Blended Mode proposal applies to courses/papers over and above the ones that are done through the MOOCs being offered on SWAYAM.   At a time when national dailies and news channels were reporting daily losses of lives and universities, and like other sectors, universities are mourning the loss of lives of teachers and eminent scholars, and students are facing unparalleled tragedies of loss of family members to COVID, the UGC is busy brining in regulations to implement the NEP. The DUTA Executive met yesterday, 5.6.2021 at 3 pm to discuss the issue of VNC teachers. As you know, the Acting Principal, Dr. Hina Nandrajog had refused to give rejoining to the 12 ad hoc teachers. These 12 teachers have been teaching in the college for the past several years. The longest serving teacher amongst these 12 has been teaching since 9.1.2014 and few others have joined in 2016 and 2018.  The DUTA has held a number of action programs, written several letters to the Delhi University and Delhi Government and has been proactively pursuing the matter with members of the Governing Body of Vivekananda College.
