Teachers of Delhi Government Colleges protest stoppage of salaries and grants by Delhi Government; Colleges in crisis Teachers, under the banner of DUTA, gathered today outside Vidhan Sabha to register their strong protest at the manner in which the employees of the 28 colleges partially or fully funded by the Delhi Government are being treated. As the result of the stand off with DU on the matter of non- formation of Governing Bodies, Delhi Government has once again stopped grants to colleges. This has lead to crisis in these units, especially the twelve 100% Delhi Government funded colleges. Staff Association Office Bearers of the  twelve 100% funded colleges narrated how uncertainty in getting salaries has led to crisis in colleges. Employees, teaching and non-teaching, are under tremendous stress. The repeated stopping of funds is resulting in delayed payments of other reimbursements due to the employees. DUTA condemns the raid on DU Professor Hany Babu Today morning at 6:30 am, the house of Dr. Hany Babu who lives in Noida, was raided by a contingent of Pune Police for six hours without a search warrant. They searched the entire house and took away all electronic devices, laptops, pen drives, mobile phone, etc. At the end of the search, the Pune Police claimed that the raid was in connection with the Bhima Koreagaon case. Dr. Hany Babu is an Associate Professor at the English Department of the University of Delhi for more than a decade. His wife also teaches in the English Department of Miranda House, University of Delhi. Not only has he been an outstanding teacher, but has been an active participant in struggles for academic freedom, democratic right, lawful and democratic functioning of the university, equal access to university education and social justice.
