DUTA Letter to Staff Associations, 25.12.2018                                           To President/Secretary/Office Bearers ______ ______ 25.12.2018 Dear colleagues, As you know,  the meeting of the Academic Council  scheduled for 12.12.2018 did not include item on the adoption of the UGC Regulations 2018. The DUTA wrote to the Vice Chancellor and demanded that the Draft Ordinances on the UGC Regulations 2018 prepared by the Subcommittee be included in the agenda. Soon after, the meeting was postponed. The DUTA reminded the VC again to announce the meeting and to include the matter on the agenda. A meeting of the AC has now been announced for 2.1.2019 at 11 am. We have apprehensions that the agenda may still not include the Draft Ordinances by the Sub Committee. Singh, We write this letter to draw your attention once again to the issue of stepping up of pay for teachers in colleges and universities. The matter has been raised in all our earlier meetings with you and in our memorandums and letters submitted from time to time.  As you are aware, this issue is one of the major anomalies of the VI Pay Revision for teachers, which has not been addressed even in the VII Pay Revision, either in the MHRD notification dated 02/11/2017 or in the gazette notification of UGC Regulations 2018 dt 18.07.2018. Teachers and Karamcharis of Delhi University Rally together against inaction of Government                                           Teachers and non-teaching employees of Delhi University marched together in large numbers against the inaction of the Government towards concerns of the University community on one hand and the policy onslaught towards commercialisation of public funded higher education and its destruction on the other. So much time has passed but the Government has failed to implement 7th Pay Revision in totality for universities. The notification for implementation of revised allowances and pensions, consequent to the VII Pay Revision, and disbursal of the required funds for its implementation are still pending.
