Over Seven Thousand March to Parliament against Destructive Gazette Notification on Workload and  API Teachers, students and their families marched in thousands from Mandi House to Parliament Street to show a clear thumbs-down to the Government's insidious attempts to cut jobs and deny promotions through its anti-education Gazette Notification. Through this spectacular People's March, the DUTA has given a powerful clarion call for a widespread movement against the MHRD's narrow parameters on workload calculation and impossible API targets for promotions. MHRD'S evasive and misleading response is unacceptable The DUTA is dismayed at the MHRD's evasive and misleading response on the issue of the latest unacceptable Amendments to the UGC Regulations 2010, which were notified through the Gazette on 10 May 2016. TOTAL EVALUATION BOYCOTT ON DUTA CALL ALL TWELVE EVALUATION CENTRES CLOSED ON FIRST DAY OF BOYCOTT On the first day of the Evaluation Boycott call given by the DUTA teachers voluntarily stayed from evaluation of scripts of undergraduate examinations, in protest against the draconian UGC Gazette Notification of 4th May, that will lead to loss of jobs for about 5000 ad-hoc, temporary and guest teachers of Delhi University, most of whom have been teaching in our University for many years. DUTA EVALUATION BOYCOTT BEGINS TOMORROW DUTA has launched its protest against the recent UGC Gazette Notification that will lead to loss of about 50% of teaching posts across the country. In DU alone, 5000 temporary, ad-hoc, guest lecturers will be facing the prospect of losing employment. The steep increase in direct teaching hours and huge increase in student-teacher ratio will also lead to an irreparable loss in quality, with tutorials being made optional and practicals devalued. This disastrous move has clearly been prompted by the steep cut in Govt grant to the UGC to the tune of 55%! The first phase of the protest is a four-day Evaluation Boycott starting tomorrow. Evaluation for undergraduate courses is going on at 13 Centres viz MH, KM, Hansraj, Daulat Ram, Gargi, Kalindi, Deshbandhu, ARSD, Sri Venkateswara, Maitreyi, Dyal Singh, Keshav Mahavidyalaya, and in PG course in the various Departments. DUTA Press Statement on Fresh Amendments to UGC Regulations gazetted on 4 May 2016 DUTA Rejects Draconian Notification on API and Workload and Calls for an All-out Stir The DUTA rejects the latest Amendments to UGC Regulations (2010), notified through the Gazette of India on 10 May 2016, as they spell disaster for the teaching-learning processes, and endanger the livelihood of a significant section of currently-employed teachers. The most shocking feature of these amendments threatens immediate job cuts in thousands in every university across the country. If implemented, in DU alone, the jobs of 5000 existing teachers stands jeopardized.
