DUTA DHARNA AT ZAKIR HUSAIN COLLEGE TO PROTEST ABOLITION OF SC POST Members of the DUTA Executive and activists staged a dharna at Zakir Husain College to protest against the abrupt termination of services of an ad-hoc teacher belonging to SC category on 10th February, followed by a call for interviews of ad-hoc teachers from general category. This arbitrary change of category is a clear cut violation of the College roster approved by the University and displayed on the college website, in which one vacant post in the department of English is earmarked for SC. Newly elected AC member Hansraj Suman said that this arbitrary change has further reduced the percentage of vacancies reserved for SC to only 10% of the total number of vacancies, whereas a minimum of 15% have to be reserved for SC. Moreover, this action of the college administration has led to the anomalous situation in which there  is not even one teacher belonging to SC category in a department of 15!  Dr Hany Babu

DUTA Opposes Hindu College Teachers' Unjust Termination; Gives Call for Strike The DUTA has condemned the Hindu College Governing Body and DU Vice-Chancellor for colluding on the unjust decision to terminate the services of two faculty members from the College. In an Emergency Meeting held today to take stock of the termination order, the DUTA has slammed the shocking violations of established procedure on the part of the Hindu Governing Body Chairman and the DU administration. The decision to terminate the teachers' services is a heinous attack on their livelihood as well as an unprecedented and cold-blooded signal to the University community and teachers' collective that all rules and regulations can be ignored by authorities who are pursuing a politics of vendetta against employees who may be raising their voice against any injustice. DUTA slams the VC for arbitrary termination of services of two teachers of Hindu College The DUTA condemns in strongest terms the manner in which services of two teachers of Hindu College have been terminated. The termination notice was issued by the Chairman, Governing Body on 21 February 2015 after the Vice Chancellor gave his sanction to the Governing Body's decision on the matter taken in its meeting held in December 2014. It is important to note that out of 11 members present in the GB five members dissented against the proposal to terminate the service of the two teachers. From the very start the College Governing Body and Delhi University administration have acted in an arbitrary and vindictive manner on the issue. Following a small tussle in a meeting of the Staff Association of the College, the two teachers had been put under suspension since 11 October 2013 on the basis of a complaint received against them.
