PRESS RELEASE, 31.12.13

DUTA–DUCKU SEVEN HOUR DHARNA AND GHERAO OF GOVERNING BODY AT HINDU COLLEGE on 30.12.13 DEMANDING WITHDRAWAL OF SUSPENSION OF TWO TEACHERS The DUTA intensified its agitation demanding the withdrawal of the illegal suspension of two teachers of Hindu College, by staging a joint dharna along with the Delhi University and College Karamchari Union outside the venue of the meeting of the Governing Body. Shockingly, the issue of suspension of the two teachers by the Chairman, without even waiting for their reply to the show cause notice issued to them, had not even been put on the agenda of the meeting. Neither the reply of the teachers to the show cause notice, nor the report of the Grievance Committee of the Staff Council, that has held the complaint as false and fabricated, was shown to the members of the Governing Body either before or after the suspension, or tabled at the meeting of the GB. DUTA Office bearers had met the Chairman twice in the last two months and pointed out

Press Release, 20.12.2013

DUTA Response on Vice Chancellor's "threat" of teacher evaluation by students The report in HT " DU students to evaluate profs from January ” published on, 20 December can only be read as a retaliation by the Vice Chancellor against teachers for daring to speak out against his unacademic “reforms”. It is unfortunate that the rationale provided by him has no academic basis but is only in reaction to the adverse students’ feedback from MH, SRCC and St. Stephen’s College published by the DUTA.     The VC is so rattled by the student feedback on FYUP that he announces teacher evaluation of students as a tit for tat measure. Analytical display of student feedback on various aspects of FYUP – its structure, Foundation Courses and course content – project the complete failure of FYUP. Over 90% of the students who participated in the exercise gave their preference to a three year UG system. The colleges carried forward the exercise of collecting students’ feedback

Letter to Principals, 18.12.2013

To, The Principal, ________________ 18 December 2013 Dear Colleague, You would probably be aware of the fact that the DUTA has had three workshops on the recently introduced modalities of implementing the 200 point roster in Delhi University colleges. A large number of teachers from various colleges and experts from other universities participated in the workshops. The findings confirmed the fact that the modalities are in violation of GOI Policy of reservation as enunciated in DoPT circulars, and that their implementation will cause major imbalance between departments and large-scale displacement of ad-hocs, causing immense hardship to ad-hocs of all categories. The DUTA has, through the workshops, prepared an alternative model  which is in consonance with the GOI policy. In this model, the entitlement is worked out as per the DoPT circulars of 1997 and 2008, and the reserved vacancies are distributed proportionately between different departments, so as to ensure a b
