A meeting of the DUTA Executive Committee was held at 2:30 PM on Monday, Oct 28, 2013. Following were the agenda: Representation by Dr. Rajesh Mohan, ARSD College, regarding withholding of retirement dues. Representation by Mrs. Aruna Kumar, S.P.A., ARSD College, regarding her complaint of Sexual Harassment against the OSD. The DUTA Executive discussed the issue of withholding of Retired Teacher Dr. Rajesh Mohan’s retirement dues for almost six months in blatant violation of Statute 28 of the Delhi University Act. The DUTA Executive condemned the ARSD College Governing Body for withholding his dues and demanded that they be released immediately. The DUTA Executive also demanded that the pending enquiry into the financial decisions taken during his tenure as Officiating Principal be completed in an impartial and time-bound manner. The DUTA Executive resolved to appeal to the Chairperson of the Governing Body of the college to initiate the process for clearing Dr. Rajesh Moh

Appointments to fill 4000 plus vacant posts have not started despite repeated promises made by the University Administration. Ad hoc teachers and Guest Lecturers are faced with harrowing uncertainty and deprived of basic rights. The delay in permanent appointments has caused severe demoralization in the teaching community and is bound to cause a flight of talent away from the teaching profession. The recent EC decisions on Screening of candidates, modalities for implementing the Reservation roster and composition of Selection Committees threaten to derail the appointment process since they are not in consonance with legal requirements and the principles of social and academic justice. The DUTA demands that the University reconsider these decisions, take prompt corrective steps and start the appointment process without any further delay. In the meeting of the DUTA executive held on 12.10.13, the following resolution was unanimously passed: 1. While welcoming the suspension of the Principal of BR Ambedkar College, the DUTA is of the opinion that it is a case of too little too late. Suspension is not a punishment, but a mere a pre-requisite for the institution of a fair enquiry into the charges against him, since he is in a position to influence the investigations as long as he occupies the office of Principal. The DUTA urges the Governing Body to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the Principal under Ordinance XVIII, and to set up an independent enquiry into the charges leveled by Pavitra Bhardwaj against the Principal. These would include sexual harassment and mental torture, maladministration and violation of Ordinance XV(D). The enquiry should be conducted by a retired judge of a level not less than the High Court, and proper terms of reference should be framed. The DUTA would like to point out that a

Press Release The DUTA welcomes the decision of the Governing Body of the B.R.Ambedkar College, taken at its meeting held today, to suspend the Principal of the College pending enquiry. The collective effort of students, teachers and karmacharis in putting pressure on the Authorities has resulted in this decision, without which there could be no fair and impartial investigation into the charges of continuous victimization and harassment of Pavitra Bharadwaj by the Principal leading to her suicide.
